Sunday
The weather here is pretty screwed. We had hail and rain with occasional sunshine today, and it's been showers and sun for the last few days. My lawn needs cutting, but the grass has not been dry enough at any time so far this year. I managed to do a little weeding last Sunday, but had to wear my wet-weather gear to be able to do it. We're desperate for the good weather to start so we can spend more time in the garden again. My wife spends almost all of her time out there once the good weather kicks in.Today we were busy anyway, clearing the front living room ready for the decorator who should be here bright and early in the morning. It was quite a job, as there's a dining table and six chairs, two cabinets, one of which contains my hi-fi separates (a wiring nightmare), a bed-settee that weighs a ton and four wall-mounted CD racks. This stuff is now distributed around the house so the decorator can have a clear run at it and also because we're having new carpet fitted on Thursday, which means we had to get the old carpet up first. My son wants the old carpet for his L-shaped spare bedroom, and I spent quite a while wondering how to cut it to fit. I'm still not convinced I got it right, but that will be his problem to sort out.
At some stage, carting all this stuff around, I've twanged a muscle in my lower back. It's not really bad, just an irritation. With luck it'll be better by Thursday when we have to move everything back into the room.
I'm taking the week off work so as to be here while the front room work is going on, and because I had a load of leave owing me anyway. I have a couple of staff reports to write, so I'll probably do those while I'm off, as it's easier to do them while I'm not at the office being constantly interrupted.
