Drip feed work news

Went to London yesterday for an IT Strategy meeting. 5 hours on the train, there and back, for a two hour meeting.

We still don't know where we stand with the outsource, but it looks like anyone who is on the IT Team who wants transfer to the new company is likely to be able to do so. As our office has to lose around a third of its staff by 2007/8 this might be a good offer. It would at least ensure I'm still working in IT but I won't have to fill in application forms, pass tests or be interviewed. Maybe it's a good thing after all.

By the end of April we should know which company won the contract and we can then begin negotiating about actual jobs. Once I've got more info about the terms and conditions I can begin to think about whether to opt to transfer or hold out for an early retirement package. But I don't think staying on here, doing non-IT work, is something I really want to do.
